The Scientific Way to Cut a Cake
Is there a better way to cut a round birthday cake? Famed British mathematician Sir Francis Galton says there is. In a new video rather than cutting a wedge out of the cake like a pie chart Galton suggests a different way: slice a long portion from the center first. Then, push the two halves back together. The next cut he suggests you slice another long center cut -- this one perpendicular to the first resulting in two perfectly even pieces and again when you are done just keep pushing the cake back into a perfect but smaller circle. The inside of the cake remains moist, protected from excessive oxygen exposure.
