In theaters Christmas Day - "Unbroken"

Posted By: Morning Show · 11/21/2014 3:25:00 AM

In just over a month, Christmas Day -  the movie "Unbroken" is in theaters. Unbroken is the amazing true life story of Olympian and war hero “Louie” Zamperini who survived in a raft for 47 days after a near-fatal plane crash in WWII—only to be caught by the Japanese Navy and sent to a brutal prisoner-of-war camp. Zamperini became a born-again Christian after reluctantly attending a crusade led by evangelist Billy Graham in 1949. The story was told in the best-selling book Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption. Angelina Jolie directed and produced the film and became close friends with Louie. She called him a hero and was able to show him a rough cut of the film before he passed away this summer at the age of 97.

HELPFUL TIPS: Things Emotionally Strong People Don't Do

Posted By: Morning Show · 11/4/2014 1:26:00 PM

Here are some things emotionally strong people don’t do:

  1. They don’t let negativity and drama get the best of them. – Your brain is a radio transmitter.  It broadcasts thoughts, directions and vibrations into your life – you get to choose the station it’s tuned to.  Emotionally strong people understand this and tune out negativity to make room for positivity.  Be wise enough to follow in their footsteps.  Walk away from the nonsense around you.  Focus on the positives, and soon the negatives will be harder to see.
  2. They don’t waste time feeling sorry for themselves. – Emotionally strong people don’t sit around feeling sorry about their circumstances or how others have treated them.  Instead, they take responsibility for their role in life, work on changing what can be changed, and keep in mind that life isn’t always easy or fair.  In the end, happiness is not the absence of problems, but ...

Verafill: While talking to my daughter the other night about about not giving up with things get tough, I thought of some of these examples. What would of happened if they would of given up for the first?

1. Walt Disney: Today Disney rakes in billions from merchandise, movies and theme parks around the world, but Walt Disney himself had a bit of a rough start. He was fired by a newspaper editor because, "he lacked imagination and had no good ideas." After that, Disney started a number of businesses that didn't last too long and ended with bankruptcy and failure. He kept plugging along, however, and eventually found a recipe for success that worked.

2. Oprah Winfrey: Most people know Oprah as one of the most iconic faces on TV as well as one of the richest and most successful women in the world. Oprah faced a hard road to get to ...
