Intercultural, Interfaith “Evening Social”
The Turkish American Society of Ohio (Locally, “TASO Cleveland”) will host an intercultural, interfaith “evening social” (“Turkish Coffee Night”). This free, public event will occur at the Turkish American Cultural Center (“Cultural Center”), located at 13303 Madison Avenue, in Lakewood, on Friday; October 18, 2013, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served, and reservations are not required.
The Cultural Center is located approximately 1/2 mile east of Bunts Road (West 140)--on the south side of Madison Avenue, at Clarence Avenue. Local RTA public-transportation includes the Madison Route #25, Monday through Friday. The Cultural Center is located in a red-brick building, with stone trim and signage “TASO.” The Cultural Center is located one block west of Madison Park; and next to Lakewood Library’s Madison Branch, 13229 Madison Avenue. Event-parking includes Madison Avenue, side-streets, and the Madison Park lot. (Limited parking behind Cultural Center, accessed from Clarence.) A registration/resource table will be available inside the Cultural Center’s front entrance. The Cultural Center includes access by various stairways. (No elevator or ramps.)

TASO was established during 2010--with headquarters in Columbus, Ohio. TASO promotes interaction, education, diversity, understanding, and friendship between cultures. The Cultural Center was opened during March, 2012. The Cultural Center provides facilities and services for 200 to 300 Turkish residents in Lakewood, and approximately 60 Turkish families on the East Side of Greater Cleveland.
TASO and the Cultural Center sponsor forums, cultural activities, and intercultural-travel to Turkey. Forums have included a variety of intercultural, interfaith speakers. The “evening socials” (“Turkish Coffee Nights”) are to be scheduled generally on a monthly basis. www.tasocleveland.org.
Lakewood Public Library, TASO Cleveland, and the Cultural Center have been sponsoring and hosting the “Muslim Journeys” series. Lakewood Public Library was selected to receive special grant-funding, regarding the series.
