Three Chicago bootleggers on the lam in 1920s Missouri get a big Christmas surprise in a rollicking new musical coming to First Baptist Church of Medina on December 13-15.
Comedy, drama, song and dance take center stage in “Discovering David Dansville,” an original musical by Jenni Sabino. The show opens on Friday, Dec. 13, at 7 pm, at First Baptist, located at 3646 Medina Road. Performances continue on Saturday, Dec. 14, at 7 pm and Sunday, Dec. 15, at 4 pm.
“Discovering David Dansville” debuted in 2010 at Cornerstone Church of Ames, Iowa, reaching over 5,000 people with an uplifting story of a father’s unconditional love, set against a backdrop of Prohibition, orphan trains and small-town secrets.
Directed by Derwin Loverink, the First Baptist Church production features Phil Nass, Kevin Gillett and Adam Vigneault as the trio of bootleggers whose dance with Lady Luck takes an interesting turn.
The large cast includes two of the church’s pastors. Family Pastor Brad Jones plays a government worker and the owner of Dansville’s General Store; his wife, Sheri, and children, Tyler and Julianna, appear as townspeople. First Baptist’s new Worship Pastor, Jake Poole, makes his acting debut as Simon.
Admission is free; an offering will be taken to help offset costs for the production. For more information, visit www.firstmedina.org.
