Ms. Wheelchair USA Pageant
Cuyahoga Fall High School Auditorium - Cuyahoga Falls, OH
Saturday, July 19, 2014
The Ms. Wheelchair USA program, now in its 15th year, celebrates the achievements of women with disabilities AND provides opportunities for women with disabilities to promote their achievements while providing them a platform for community service and public issues. Participants are able to educate and advocate for things important to the disabled community, while showcasing their glamour and self-confidence as well as their individual accomplishments.
Contestants and their families come from all over the country. The reigning Ms Wheelchair USA, Ashlee Lundvall, hails from Wyoming and has been an inspiration to all as she has traveled and talked about her faith and her courage to continue to pursue her love of hunting and other outdoor activities. Though paralyzed and relegated to a wheelchair at age 16, Ashlee is an avid kayaker, four-wheeler & camper in addition to being a wife, mother, teacher and huntress!
The program is not a beauty pageant per se, but designed similarly with all the glamour, phases of competition, production numbers, entertainment and a national television broadcast.
It is produced by many volunteers of all ages and all walks of life. Currently the program is presented by the Dane Foundation, an Ohio based organization that provides unique supports for individuals with physical and developmental disabilities.
